Pricing & trial

How much does Trovette cost?

Plans start at $39/month. See the pricing page for what each plan includes.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. You won't be charged until the trial ends.

How am I billed?

Shopify stores choose a plan in Shopify and pay on their regular Shopify invoice, so there's no separate card on file. Standalone shops (no Shopify) pay by card through a secure checkout and manage their plan in Settings › Billing.

Is there a limit on items?

Starter includes up to 250 items in Trovette at a time and Growth up to 1,000. Pro is unlimited. Sold and returned items don't count, so space frees up as items sell. There's never a limit on consignors. If you hit the limit, upgrade anytime to keep adding items.

Does migration cost extra?

No. Moving your data over from another consignment app is free on every plan.

Register, Shopify & Shopify POS

Do I need Shopify?

No. Trovette has a built-in register: scan a barcode, take cash or card, print a receipt, and the consignor's share is credited right away. Sign up at trovette.com/signup to run standalone, and connect a Shopify store later if you want to sell online too.

Does Trovette work with Shopify POS?

Yes. Consigned items are listed as Shopify products, so you sell them with Shopify POS in-store and in your online store. Sales flow back to Trovette and update consignor balances automatically.

Do I need to change how I ring up sales?

No. If you use Shopify, keep checking out in Shopify POS as usual. Scan the barcode on the label and Trovette credits the right consignor when the sale comes through.

What about items I own myself?

Shop-owned and buy-outright items work too. They're tracked alongside consigned items, with no consignor split.

Do you support Square or other POS systems?

Not yet. Square is on our roadmap. Today you can sell with Trovette's built-in register, Shopify POS and your Shopify online store, or any mix of them.

Barcodes & labels

Which barcodes are supported?

Code128, QR, UPC, EAN and ITF. Trovette can generate a unique barcode for each item, or you can keep the barcodes you already use.

How do I print labels?

Design your tag in the drag-and-drop label designer, then print from your browser to your label printer. You can have labels print automatically as you add items, or print a batch at once.

Migrating from another consignment app

Can I bring my data from my current software?

Yes. Import accounts, items, balances and recurring fees from a CSV export of your current consignment app. You map the columns, preview a dry run, then commit. Existing barcodes are kept so your tags keep scanning.

What if something goes wrong during import?

Every import starts as a dry run you can review first, and a committed import batch can be rolled back. Email us and we'll help with the migration for free.

Splits & agreements

How do consignor splits work?

Set a default split for your shop, override it for any consignor, and optionally use tiered splits that change with the sale price. Each sale credits the consignor's share to their balance.

Can items expire?

Yes. Set a consignment period and choose what happens when it ends: return to the consignor, donate, convert to shop-owned, or mark down on a schedule. No expiration is the default.

Collections (lots)

Can I track a lot or collection I bought or consigned?

Yes. Track every collection you buy or consign: see what's sold, what's left and when you've paid it off. Create a collection as bought outright (what you paid, the date and the seller) or consigned (the consignor and split), then add items at intake, in bulk from the Items list, or from an item's page. Each collection shows items sold and unsold, remaining value and gross sales. Bought collections add cost, profit, ROI and a break-even bar with the date you broke even. Consigned collections show what the consignor is owed and has been paid, plus your commission. You can split the cost evenly across items or enter each item's cost, and export any collection to CSV.

Does it work with in-store and online sales?

Yes. Sales from the built-in register and from your online store all count toward a collection's numbers, and refunds are taken off.

Payouts

How do I pay consignors?

Trovette keeps every consignor's balance up to date. When you pay someone by cash, check, PayPal, Zelle or ACH, you record the payout in Trovette and their balance and portal update. Trovette records payouts. It doesn't move money for you.

Can I hold funds before they're paid out?

Yes. Set a hold period in days so recent sales clear before they can be paid out.

Recurring fees & surcharges

Can I charge shelf or case rent?

Yes. Add recurring fees, like shelf or case rentals, to any consignor account and track them alongside balances. Automatic charging is coming soon.

Can I add consignor or buyer fees?

Yes. Set up consignor and buyer surcharges in Settings.

Consignor portal

How does the consignor portal work?

Consignors sign in with a one-time link emailed to them, so there's no password to remember. They see their items, sales, balance and payouts. The portal shows your logo and colors, and you can share it with a custom link or QR code.

Can consignors submit items?

Yes, if you turn it on. Consignors submit items with required photos. You choose whether submissions go on sale right away or wait in a review queue for you.

Will consignors get email notifications?

Sign-in links and portal invites are emailed today. Automatic emails for things like sales and payout receipts are coming soon. You can already edit those templates in Settings.

Photos

Do items need photos?

Yes. New items need at least one photo so they look good and are easy to find in the shop. On Shopify stores, photos sync to the Shopify product.

Data security & privacy

Is my data private?

Yes. Each store's data is kept separate from every other store, staff sign in with their own email and password (or through Shopify on Shopify stores), and consignors only ever see their own account. We honor GDPR data requests. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Who can see what?

Staff roles control what each team member can see and change in the admin. Consignors only see their own items, sales and payouts in the portal.

Cancellation

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There's no contract. Shopify stores can uninstall the app whenever they like; standalone shops cancel in Settings › Billing.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. Export reports and lists to CSV whenever you like, including before you cancel. Need more? Email us and we'll help.
