Questions, answered
Do I need Shopify?
No. Trovette has its own built-in register, so you can run your shop without Shopify. If you use Shopify, items list as Shopify products and sell through Shopify POS and your online store, and sales flow back to update consignor balances. You can start standalone and connect Shopify later.
Do you support Square?
Not yet. Square is on our roadmap. Today you can sell with Trovette's built-in register, with Shopify and Shopify POS, or both.
Can you move my data from my current consignment software?
Yes, and migration is free. We import accounts, items, balances and recurring fees from other consignment apps, and keep your existing barcodes. See the migration page for details.
How does the consignor portal work?
Consignors sign in with a magic link sent to their email, no password needed. They can see their items, sales, balance and payouts, and submit new items with required photos for you to review. The portal carries your logo and colors, and you can share it with a custom link or QR code.
How is billing handled?
Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Shopify stores pick a plan and pay on their regular Shopify invoice. Standalone shops pay by card. Starter includes up to 250 items in Trovette at a time, Growth up to 1,000, and Pro is unlimited.
Can I customize item fields and labels?
Yes. Add dropdowns, required fields, defaults and currency fields, and design labels in the drag-and-drop designer with Code128, QR, UPC, EAN or ITF barcodes. Labels print from your browser and can print automatically on intake.
How do I pay consignors?
Trovette tracks every balance. Record payouts by cash, check, PayPal, Zelle or ACH, and consignors see them in their portal.
Can I charge shelf or case rent?
Yes. Add recurring fees like shelf and case rentals to any account and track them alongside balances. Automatic charging is coming soon.
Can I track a lot or collection I bought or consigned?
Yes. Track every collection you buy or consign: see what's sold, what's left and when you've paid it off. Create a collection as bought outright (what you paid, the date and the seller) or consigned (the consignor and split), then add items at intake, in bulk from the Items list, or from an item's page. Each collection shows items sold and unsold, remaining value and gross sales. Bought collections add cost, profit, ROI and a break-even bar with the date you broke even. Consigned collections show what the consignor is owed and has been paid, plus your commission. You can split the cost evenly across items or enter each item's cost, and export any collection to CSV.
Is my data private?
Each store’s data is isolated, staff sign in with their own account (or through Shopify), and we honor GDPR data requests. See our Privacy Policy for details.
